How to Make a Style
An easy guide to help you design and publish your first CucoStudio Style

What’s a CucoStudio Style?
Instead of creating a one-off After Effects template that gets old quickly, a CucoStudio Style lets you build a reusable and flexible system.
Designers retain full control over visual identity. Writers and editors get a frictionless interface to create videos — without ever opening After Effects.
Get Started
- Visit the /styles page to download base projects — published Styles you can use as starting points or references. (BabyFenix is a good one to start with.)
A Style is made of shots — just After Effects compositions.
Each shot contains a Frame and a Caption:
The Frame is where CucoStudio places visuals like images, videos, or GIFs.
The Caption is for story text.
These (and other essential elements) are explained in more detail on the style’s download page.
- Start with a single shot, test it in CucoStudio, then expand as needed.
When a story is turned into a video, CucoStudio picks the most fitting shots and fills them with content — text, images, visuals, and more.
- Modify the design however you like — just don’t rename or delete the key layers and comp names.
Uploading Your Style
When you’re happy with your first shot:
- Go to File > Dependencies > Collect Files in After Effects.
- Zip the collected project.
- Upload it to your CucoStudio profile.
Private or Public?
By default, your Style is private — only you can use it to make videos.
You can fix, update, or expand your Style any time.
If you choose to publish your Style:
- Anyone with a CucoStudio account can use it to dress their stories.
- You’ll earn a 7% royalty for every video made with your design.
If you’re on a Business account, your whole team will have access — design and editorial, working together.
What’s Next?
Styles are brand vessels. They carry your tone, typography, rhythm, and visual structure — across every story shaped by your design.
Just like a well-made brand guide, your Style can grow and evolve. You can:
- Add new shots
- Improve layout or timing
- Refine details — without breaking what’s already working
CucoStudio introduces a new kind of design role — like a webmaster maintaining a site, but for motion design.
To update a Style:
- Click Edit
- Upload a new zip with your updated, collected project
We’re constantly expanding what Styles can do — so your design system can evolve with it.
Your design is not a file. It’s a system.
